Legacy Reviewer's Review of Celestron CGEM 1100 HD Aplanatic Schmidt Telescope 11082

The system is heavy; I built a base with wheels to move it in out of the garage. I had the Telescope for a year never did find any planets, just moon shots. Tried too use the programmable base and never did get it aligned properly, if you dont have it aligned perfect, every time you will never get it to find the planets. The programmable tripod is difficult too use and you need to be an experience with the planet positioning too get it too work. I tried to find the planets on the finder scope and telescope lenses difficult too determine which is which. I recommend not moving it once aligned, This is not a beginners scope and the programmable tripod is miss leading you still need to be familiar with the Planets and there alignments which changes all the time. The price of the telescope is over price and the tripod is a joke for making it easy to find anything. You will need additional lenses to see the planets that are expensive if you can alighned the scopes
Pros: The Moon shots are great
Cons: heavy and hard to setup for planets need aditional lenses not worth the money
