EZRA2EYES's Review of Celestron Cometron 7x50mm Porro Prism Binoculars
Admittedly I haven't looked through every binocular they've produced, but if there are worse ones it would astonish me.
After only 1 day and 1 night trying them out I gave them away to a teenaged niece who, no doubt for total lack of experience, thought they were "cool."
I of course did not. The "close" focus was nearly as far as once I could throw a baseball - a long way. And I would guess that those BK7 prisms, even for BK7, were the cheapest Chinese junk available. At night, even though the collimation was acceptable albeit far from good, the stars looked warped somehow with a huge smudge of CA on each. Antares looked like a smashed rose bloom. I got out a better pair, a Bushnell, and the difference bordered on the absurd. I know, without more ado that for this price one can't expect a lot, and the Bushnells cost 3 times as much, but the only reason for taking the gamble at all was the Celestron name.
