Legacy Reviewer's Review of Celestron PowerSeeker 114 EQ Astronomical Telescope 21045
Bought a second for a gift... Declination worm gear on mount was stripped out and plastic clamps on tripod legs were all cracked (should be made of metal!!!!). Instead of returning and not having a gift ready I decided to give my telescope and deal with Celestron's warranty/support department. BAD IDEAL! You think calling a telescope dealer's Tech/Warranty department they would have a clue about basic telescope mount parts...not! It took me 30 min just to describe the THEIR Declination mount system and parts. Then since there was a language (English!!) barrier I told them I would send in the parts with a letter describing the problem. A few weeks latter I received another used tripod that wasn't cracked but without any Declination parts. Called them back and parts dept threw away all the parts and they didn't write down anything about the Dec. parts. They then told me to send them a picture and they would send the part. No part...called them again then they said they wouldn't send the part because they didn't have it in their notes or a broke part...that they threw away!!! Now I'm a proud owner of Celestron paperweight unless Optics Planet takes the junk back.
Pros: Affordability
Cons: Celestron Support/parts,Lens set,mount,viewfinder
