lurk's Review of Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ Newtonian Telescope 21049
This telescope uses a jones-bird style spherical primary mirror instead of a parabolic primary mirror which means it needs a a VERY accurate correcting lens in the focuser to correct the spherical aberration ( astigmatism). With very high priced and well made optics this could be corrected but at this price point it is simply not which results in very poor images and complete mush for everything but the center of the field. This correcting lens in the focuser also makes this scope nearly impossible to collimate (align optically) just save yourself the trouble and buy something that is made correctly with a parabolic mirror you will get much more hassle free enjoyment out of it and much better views. Sorry to write such a poor review but I hope this helps someone make a better decision than I did. For similar prices you could get a table top dobsonian that is much better made by first light explorer or many other choices. A good equatorial mount will also cost money, with telescopes by once and cry once. The OMNI XLT 150 from celestron is also a good scope but expensive because of its better quality scope and mount. Please do you own research with my review and make a better informed choice.
