Legacy Reviewer's Review of Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ Newtonian Telescope 21049

This telescope comes with several very low quality eyepieces including a SR4mm which is useless with a scope of this quality. The equatorial mount is cheap and difficult to use. The scope has a Bird-Jones (spherical) lens which cannot be collimated using a laser. Typically, quality scopes use parabollic optics which tend to be more expensive since they are harder to manufacture. Celestron recommends that this scope be sent back to the manufacturer for recollimation. This is highly impractical since recollimation in a reflector type telescope is required frequently and is generally pretty easy. This scope is not 1000mm. It's actually about 1/3rd of that with a corrector (barlow) lens built into the focuser. This also limits image quality. I would highly recommend going to something like a Dobsonian 8in aperture which you can get for about $350. Good brands are Zhumell and Orion. You'll definitely be happier with you're purchase.
Pros: Easy setup
Cons: Bird-Jones (spherical) lens and cannot be collimated by standard methods.
