Just don’t, please - Choate Tool Mossberg Side Folder for 500/600/590/835

I bought this stock for my Mossberg Maverick 88. I have to say I appreciate Optics Planet for quickly shipping this item to me and getting it within 3 days of ordering it. However, my experience with this stock has been subpar at best and a massive disappointment at worst. When I first got the stock, I noticed that the pistol grip was loose to the point that it would rotate from side to side. However, when I tried to remove the bolt holding the pistol grip I learned that it was practically welded in place. Additionally, the stock has a massive gap between the pistol grip and trigger guard which doesn’t aid ergonomics. Furthermore, the pistol grip is really big and is not the best design or texture. I took it out to the range and after 90 rounds of buckshot, slugs, and mini shells the stock screw began to unscrew itself out of place and the stock became loose. That’s a gigantic shame since the stock is fairly comfortable when firing the gun. Also, screwing the stock screw in is a massive inconvenience. I had to put a socket head on it and screw it in with a screw driver. I will say that this stock has been a tremendous waste of $100. The fore end that came with it was for a 6 3/4 action tube so unless you have a Mossberg pump with that shorter action tube you’re SOL. The plastic quality on the stock is actually fairly decent, but the buttplate is harder than a rock. The plastic they used on the pistol grip and fore end is garbage however. It feels like some cheap old school polymer that doesn’t hold a candle to modern offerings. However, I will say the side folding stock doesn’t wobble and it has great lock up. That’s the only reason why it gets 2 stars. Everything else with this stock has been a royal pain in my behind. Don’t buy this stock if you actually shoot your shotgun, just keep your regular stock or buy something else.
