AmericanGunner's Review of Christensen Arms Modern Precision Rifle Chassis
In general, I like the feel of this chassis. Though my Bergara B14 barreled action did not fit in this chassis, I still have high hopes that an American Rifle Company Nucleus barreled action might. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Other than finding a barreled action to build a rifle using this chassis, the chassis itself is fine for the money. I am sure you will have to pay more for the same features with a modular MDT chassis. I don't feel that Christensen Arms put a lot of effort in QA'ing these. On my copy, the release for the folding stock is very hard to engage. I had to fiddle with the stock to get the button to press to allow the stock to fold. At first, I thought the button was stuck, but after fiddling with it, I found the sweet spot. Next, the carbon fiber foregrip is not finished well. I can visibly see the seams on the straight edges. Not pleasing to look at.
For a sub $800 stock, it will do if I can find a barreled action that will fit it for around $1500. The total will be about what I would pay for a decent off the shelf precision rifle; but this route, I can pick an action maker of my choice. Right now, an American Rifle Company Nucleus setup is what I am zeroing in on. Wish me luck!
