civtard's Review of CMC Triggers 47501 Drop-In Trigger Group 2.0 Single-Stage Curve With 3.50 Lbs Dr

First off, i love CMC triggers in my ARs. Theyre light and crisp and have a short reset. This is much the same, however installing this trigger is kind of an endeavour. Maybe you will have an easier time than I, if so, im very glad for you.

You will most likely need a full auto safety, as a semi auto safety will probably contact the aluminum housing, and not work due to the trigger-safety interface surface being a different design altogether. You will not be able to use a retaining plate, and you must remove trigger from housing before dropping it in. You cannot remove the safety without having to disassemble the trigger either. I used the AK master mount FA safety and had to remove material from the trigger housing to clear the safety bar, as the safety bar was contacting the trigger housing and gouging out material. I also had to file some material off the bottom of the housing under the rear set screw to get proper pin alignment, and even then the rear pin took some fandangling to align before i could tap it into place as well. For those who may be considering this trigger, if you dont want to do any fitting, this isnt the one for you.

Otherwise it is a nice trigger, it is both smooth and crisp with 2/3 to 3/4 the takeup and reset of the factory trigger in my PSAK. However there is no discernible wall and its a guess as to where it will break, but its still more predictable than the factory trigger. In the future, i would probably go with a more traditional style trigger, like an ALG, which is honestly much easier to install than this. Your mileage may vary.
Pros:
  • smooth, crisp, short takeup/reset relative to factory trigger
Cons:
  • Not fun to install
  • no break wall
  • fitting (probably) required
  • must use (included) shepherd's hook
Best Used for:
  • striking firing pins
