Rob1547's Review of CMMG, Inc PS90 5. 10.4in. Barrel
Great barrel option. I recently purchased my first PS90, after receiving my Form 1 SBR approval from the ATF (and laser engraving my firearm, etc.,), I purchased this CMMG Barrel from OpticsPlanet.
The CMMG 10.4" barrel is really a great option, albeit one of the only options, for those who want to convert their PS90 to an SBR.
I also appreciated that is has a fantastic and durable finish on it. I did the SBR swap myself (on the upper-limit of my comfort level but it came out great and I learned a lot in the process, got some new tools in the process, anyways....), you'll need a 15MM THIN-wrench for the rear bolt of this barrel (just like the FN factory one). I was impressed that the barrel really took the "manhandling" of holding it down in a vice while torque-wrenching down the muzzle device on it. The finish did not flake off or tarnish while I was pretty pretty hard on it, as required to torque it down. The rear nut looks identical to the FN factory one.
TLDR: A great option, while not "cheap", it's also not insanely expensive. It's also a nice quality barrel. CMMG puts this barrel goes through a SBN (Salt Bath Nitride) coating process during manufacturing, which is different than the FN cold-hammer forged process, but not "better or worse". Just different - Don't hesitate to buy this! Highly recommend.
