MarvinGabriel's Review of Colt M4A1 Long Keymod AEG-Full Metal

You truly get what you pay for. I was hesitant to use Airsoft as a training aid. I bought a Black Ops M4, and found it to be sub-standard. It was wobbly, ah inconsistent POI, and just felt like a toy. However, it was still better than most of the other guns that showed up to training. Enter the Colt M4A12 Long Keymod. I ordered this rifle, and figured I'd just see what the difference is. The build quality is apparent. This thing is rock solid. This is setup almost exactly like my real AR-15, with keymod. Even the BUIS are pretty decent. They're not Troy Battle Sights, but they're not bad at all. The trigger is also pretty good. Decent, and certain reset. Good quality magazines, that once again, feel great, seat perfectly and never to give me FTF issues. I really like teh sling point. That's a nice add-on from a $200.00 production gun.

I shot 50 .20 BBs through my Chrony. I was pretty impressed. The rifle, out of the box (with a freshly cleaned barrel) shot an average 372 fps, with a Standard Deviation of 1.0!!! I don't care so much about the 372 fps, but a SD of 1.0 was not expected from a $200.00 AS rifle. As for accuracy, I switched to .25 BBs, and went outside. At 35 yards, prone, supported by the magazine, using my Aimpoint Pro red-dot optic, a 100 round group measured about 5"X5". The range was virtually windless, clear and sunny. Out of the box, with the hop up backed off all the way, the .25 BBS flew very nicely.

The battery could stand to be larger. I'd like to see a 1600 mAh, 9.6 volt battery in the kit, but no big deal. There's not a lot negative to say. I'm a tinkerer, and there's not a lot to fix in this gun.

From a value perspective, the Colt is a MUCH better option than a $100.00 gun. The $200.00 I paid for this rifle is much cheaper than the $120.00 Black Ops. It needs nothing out of the box. It's ready to go. It's solid, consistent, and is probably 54 times the gun, and under twice the cost.
