Chrimson trace and safariland holsters - Crimson Trace Rail Master Pro Universal Rail Mount LED Laser

I bought a Safariland 7378 7TS holster because I wanted active retention for my Glock 19 which I conceal carry. I selected a 7378 able to take the M3 light in hopes a Chrimson Trace Rail Master Pro CMR-204 (laser and light) would fit. It was so close, but not quite. So I ordered the Rail Master CMR-206 (laser only) and that fits really nice. Both of these Chrimson Trace units are outstanding and were easy to mount and zero in. To further enhance this review I would also like to discuss the holster a bit more. The Safariland 7378 7TS holster, used with the paddle is a very nicely engineered product. The holster is strong, won't flex and protects the gun nicely. The ALS retention is outstanding. I also bought the 6006 ALS Guard and love it. It turns the holster into a Level II retention holster. The only problem was that the holster rides too low for concealed carry. Immediately below the paddle mount (or belt loop mount) are 3 additional and unused mounting holes. The mounting holes used by Safarilands design have T-Nuts permanently set into the holster. OK, the two T-Nuts that the paddle was set on from Safariland, I used to mount the 6006 ALS Guard. With the paddle, the third hole is used for a plastic lug that snaps below your belt to keep the holster in place. I removed the screw and plastic lug. I then bought some of these T-Nuts at a local Fastenal store. The T-Nuts are #8 by 32 and are 1/4" long. I cut the metal prongs off the T-Nuts I bought and sized their bases to fit on the the inside and of and through the extra holster holes. Note that the ALS needs to be taken out to access the one hole; just pop it back in when you are done. Cut the T-Nut bases irregularly so when you tighten things down the nut bases hit the holster plastic and don't turn any further. Now I attached the paddle to the lower holster holes with Safariland screws and the T-Nuts I added. I used the third and lowest extra hole for a T-Nut and attached the plastic lug to it (used to snap in under your belt). It turned out perfect! The holster now rides 1 and 5/8" higher and is much easier to conceal. I would guess you could probably do the same with other Safariland 7TS holsters as well. I emailed Safariland and offered to explain as I did above but they did not reply to my email. They make a great holster and this modification greatly enhances the holsters value for concealed carry. Winter concealed carry is no problem. With this holster modification, warm weather concealed carry may also work for the Glock 19. If we modify a product like the Safariland holster, we do so at our own risk. I am really pleased with how it turned out for me. The only thing left unsaid is that original and lowest Safariland T-Nut that is permanently set into the holster. For me, I left it be, it rubs on your belt with the holster in place but that is not a big deal. In some sense it actually provides an even more secure holster attachment to the body.
