Mickey's Review of DeSantis Clip Grip

My 1969 S&W snub nose was the off duty weapon of choice during my decade as a Chicago cop. The original small grip always bothered me, and since I hated wearing a holster, I bought one of the first plastic "grip clips" available, but still had to add a grip adapter with finger grooves, to better control the weapon. That old grip clip was slippery smooth and the adapter was bright aluminum, making concealment more difficult. Enter the DeSantis grip clip, solving both problems. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a very comfortable grip, but you should know that when mine arrived, it differed from picture you see. They've added a shiny brass DeSantis medallion to the upper part of the grip, but an indelible marker renders it dark again. The checkering does help with recoil control, making it easier to quickly point shoot all five rounds into center mass. Note, you should a regular casual belt instead of a thick "gun" belt. That way the revolvers cylinder fits below the belt and helps keep the weapon secured to your body. It will NOT fall out, yet draws easily.
Pros:
  • comfort, concealment, control
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Conceal Carry
