J Carter's Review of Desert Tech TREK-22 Stock Kit
I love bullpups in concept but hate their triggers. This one is the exception. The pivoting linkage puts you in surprisingly good contact with the 10/22's trigger, and the pull is a bit lighter and a bit longer. Good pull and good reset. It feels way better than the Steyr AUG. I'm using this with the standard factory trigger. I wouldn't bother putting a BX trigger in the Trek-22.
Stock assembly is easy and all the screws are the right length. There's different lengths of screws so pay attention to which go where--if you have screw threads protruding from the nuts, you probably got some swapped. The polymer is on-par with Magpul. The finished gun is very light, very short, and balances beautifully.
One other tip if you're building from scratch: a 16.5" barrel won't clear the front of the handguard, so you really need an 18.5" barrel or a long muzzle device. Or, measuring from the front face of the receiver, it's 17.25" to the front of the handguard. Mine wound up a little short so I put a forward-blow compensator on it.
