Robert Kobel's Review of DPM SIG Sauer P365 XL Spectre Romeo Zero 3.7in Barrel Mechanical Recoil Reduction System

I did a lot of research on this recoil system and finally pulled the trigger and purchased for my EDC gun. I carry a 365XL with a Norsso Reptile C slide w/ported barrel and was looking to mitigate a little more recoil so that my follow up shots would be more accurate and that I could find my green dot quicker during rapid fire. Although the Norsso slide with ported barre did significantly reduce the felt recoil, I was pleasantly surprised when I installed the DPM system and took it to the range the next day. I started off at the range by firing a standard 365XL with factory slide and internals since I needed to zero in a green dot that was installed on it. I put 36 rounds through it and had the dot nicely zeroed. When I switched to my EDC 365XL and fired a single round the difference was incredibly noticeable! The recoil was significantly less and the return to battery felt so much softer and did not jerk the gun down after the shot. I then began some rapid fire with five rounds at a time and then re-holstering. My groups were much tighter and finding the green dot was much easier on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th shots. I went through a variety of combos of spring and plugs, but had the best results with the shortest (softest) spring and the smaller (shorter) plug. Slide manipulation was also much easier then with the original OEM rod and spring. All spring and plug combos were able to cycle the rounds I was using, Magtech 115G FMJ. I also tried to cause the gun to have a limp wrist malfunction by firing with my non dominant hand and gripping the gun just enough to maintain a safe shot. I was unable to cause a malfunction which proved what I have read about these systems increasing reliability and decreasing chances of malfunction. All in all, this system of course does not take the place of proper training and experience with your firearm, but I can say it does meet all of the claims that DPM makes for these systems. I also understand that this feedback is subjective to my particular firearm set-up, shooting experience, etc - but it does work. Extremely well in my case. If you can bite the bullet and drop the money on it, I would recommend.
