Legacy Reviewer's Review of Eberlestock Phantom 42.6L Backpack

Greatly disappointed. After a lot of research and thought in this purchase, the padding and ventilation was a huge let down. I also own a Gunslinger 2 & Halftrack. Those two have the same, but the Phantom's padding is noticeably less dense, and does not support my BOB load as well. The material doesn't provide the same level of ventilation. Also, there is a zipper on the bottom of the lumbar pad to aid in removing the belt. This is an obvious week point. You can remove the Gunslinger's belt, but it doesn't require the zipper.

The Phantom was designed to be a jack-of-all-trades (combo bag & scabbard, drag bag, or pack alone). In doing so, I think it mastered none of them. I'm so disappointed, I'm returning it.

I recommend getting a Gunslinger 2 and if needed, add a couple 2 or 3L accessory pouches. You get the same thing for a lower price. If you need much bigger, go for the Operator.
Cons: poor padding and ventilation.
