Interesting concept. poor execution. - Eberlestock Jacknife Daypack

This pack makes no sense at all. All of the weight of the main compartment is transferred to the harness system through the clamshell zipper teeth. You can literally see the stress lines forming in the nylon. When the zipper teeth fail, the pack fails. I don't have high confidence this design will hold up over time. Plus, the compression straps do nothing to relieve the stress on the zipper or provide a backup means of securing the pack if the zipper fails. Speaking of security, it's a wild shame that a pack designed to carry a firearm AND a 17" laptop ($$$$) doesn't include metal lockable zippers. Also, be advised the bottom of the pack isn't flat so it just dumps over on its face every time you sit it down. The grab handle is sturdy and it does hang well. The overall craftsmanship is excellent and the harness system itself is great but I'm sending this item back for a refund. Reason: Interesting concept. Poor execution.
