ZackInMA's Review of Eberlestock X2 Daypack
The bag is very heavy for what it is. It comes in over five and a half pounds on my scale. And for that weight, it's not even what I would consider to be a full framed pack. For example, my Mystery Ranch pop up weighs only 5.25 lb, yet has a much more adjustable and robust frame. It also has more total volume to pack stuff. The waste belt is more robust. This pack is okay, I got it on a sweet deal price on Black Friday. But what it is I would never pay full price. It's not worth it. There are far better packs on the market that weigh less, carry more volume, and have better frames at the price point. Also, the design of the meat packing system means you're carrying weight on the outside of the pack, not against your frame and back. Which makes it feel heavier than it is and more difficult and unbalanced to carry. Lastly, the way you access the inside of the main pouch and how you have to undo the straps, which then causes parts of the pack to flop down, make this unsuitable to hunt from a tree with. There are far better packs that are far more suitable and more accessible when you're in a tree with the pack hanging from it. Unless you can steal this thing in a killer deal, get something else.
Pros:
- Lots of straps and tie downs
- Side compartments
- Good for carrying climbing sticks
Cons:
- Heavy
- Meat packing design is poor
- Straps are lackluster
- Weak sauce camo patterns
Best Used for:
- The hobbyist on short camping trips
