Although these lanterns are not the brightest lanterns available, they compare favorably to other LED lanterns. The solar charging panel (built-in) is what makes these lanterns stand apart. Just about every other LED lantern requires batteries, which are an added expense. Even rechargeables are a hassle. These lanterns are ready to go for 5 hours after an 8-hour charge in the window. A plus is that if you need them for a longer stretch, you can put in batteries and use it for a very long time (days).
