Defective on arival - EOTech Holographic Sight with Laser Battery Cap

Upon opening the box in which the EO Tech 512 arrived, I detected that it wasn't a factory fresh item. No instruction booklet, nothing wrapped in plastic. I installed the batteries and turned on the device. As I suspected, it was a completely blurry hologram, not even close. Further inspection revealed a thumb print on the optic, as if someone previously had seen the same thing I had and had to verify it wasn't just something on the glass. I've seen these with good images, and have read some good reviews, so I went ahead and obtained an RMA and requested a previously in-opened product be exchanged for this defective one. Until then, I cannot recommend one of these, and the one which I did receive and inspect was in-usable. It has been 10 days and no word yet on the status of the exchange.
