JackRolandMurphy's Review of EOTech HHS-II Holographic Reflex Red Dot Sight
EOTECH gets 4 stars for design, quality construction and performance. The holo red dot is legendary, and the 3x scope works well. However, for the price and weight, spending a couple of hundred dollars more gets you a Trijicon ACOG that relies on fiber optics for the reticule, making it a simpler and lighter solution for relatively CQB. Although the EXPS2-2 uses a small CR123A battery, the Trijicon uses no batteries. Simplicity of the Trijicon ACOG makes it a superior design. However, the circle red dot is reminiscent of Luke Skywalker lining up his shot on the Death Star exhaust port.
OPTICS PLANET (for this shipment only) gets 2 1/2 stars because $2,000 of optics were shipped 2d day air with almost NO packing material other than 2 inflatable pillows. This meant that the $250 mount, the accompanying Leupold AND the EOTECH were bouncing around inside the overly large cardboard box. In fact, the mount was OUT of its packaging. So far, everything seems to work. I am unsure whether this is an anomaly because prior orders of non-fragile goods have been competently packaged.
