I have this mounted on my Socom II M1A, and I love it. It mounted flawlessly and tight with no play. This thing is built like a tank. It would be good for CQB, survival, or close range self defense when things are a fog, because this unit has a clear, bright sight picture. It is easy to point and click up to about 100 yards on a man size target, maybe longer with more time using it. I've only had it a few days. The owner's manual says it works out to 300 yards equal to or better than iron sights. This unit really wakes up my rifle. Make sure you get the one that has common AA batteries for easy emergency procurement, and the A.R.M.S. option is absolutely a necessity, worth every penny.
Pros: Quality, tough, mil-spec, common batteries, long battery life, easy to use, cool factor
Cons: Price. Professional grade tools cost, though.
