Marv's Review of EOTech Vudu 3.5-18x50mm Rifle Scope, 34mm Tube, First Focal Plane

Wow. This scope was the farthest from consideration when deciding on what to put on a project budget bolt action rig. I initially wanted something that cost less, but offered a lot of capability. I happened to pick this up on sale and decided that if I didn't like I'd just return it. All reviews I came across were very positive, so I decided to take a chance sight unseen. All I can say is that I was quite surprised by what this scope had to offer. I've used a lot of well-known brands from Vortex to high end S&B scopes, and I will say that this optic is as good as many top tier brands I've come across to include Nightforce, Steiner, etc. This optic was manufactured in Japan (LOW) and it's oozes every bit of quality as any optic that come out of that factory. The glass is very clear and colors appear to be very vivid. Image sharpness is evident and doesn't seem to fall off at the edges as severely as some optics tend to do at high magnification, especially in mid-tier category. The turret spins are tactile and audible, and it tracks true. The MD1/MRAD target reticle is thick enough to not get lost in the thickets, yet not so heavy that it will obscure your targets. I think it's perfect., but would have like to have seen more reticle options available. Honestly, for the price you pay, this scope delivers in spades!
