Great knife - Esee Model 5 Fixed Blade Knife

I got this knife as a gift for christmas and finally got time to take it out and beat on it a bit. Overall if you want to hear the short story buy it if you want a knife you will love. I got the version with the canvas OD grips and black plain edge blade. I will say I am not out surviving in the wilderness so I haven't lived off it but from breaking down large pieces of wood to make fires for camping a couple of time the knife has yet to give me anything to gripe about. The black coating shows a little wear but I like that, it proves its not on my shelf all the time. The knife is a chunk of steel but I love the weight it makes chopping stuff super easy and it has a good size sweet spot that doesn't vibrate your hand too much. Also the weight makes it just feel like you got something of quality that will last you'll know what I mean. There are plenty of extras in the knife that I'll never use but the knife just makes me smile when I see it and use it. The blade has held up great I have yet to need to really sharpen the blade, just hone the edge every so often when operator error (poor placement of wood and nicked a rock) gets in the way. Overall I don't see myself needing any other blade for a long time. I am looking at the hedgehog leatherworks sheath if you are interested in this knife and like quality stuff I would tell you to check them out. As a last note if you are like me and research stuff way too long before you want to actually buy something and you are considering this being your go to knife, get this knife and you be happy with the investment knowing you didn't waste your money.
