Swanny's Review of Fetter 12 Gauge 2.75in Shotgun Buckshot Ammunition

I bought an SRM Arms M-1216 a couple years ago. Excellent weapon, but with limitations. Because I lived on a Federal reservation, weapons were forbidden/illegal/verboten, so I stored the shotgun. I bought a couple hundred rounds of mixed load Fetter 2.75, also stored off reservation. When I finally put the M-1216 and Fetter together, it was a disaster. The spent rounds wouldn't eject properly and jammed in the mechanism. I stood a Federal 2.75 next to the Fetter - the Fetter was 1/16" or so shorter than the Fed. The Fed rounds worked adequately in the M-1216. I checked in with SRM. The rep laughed and said "that Russian Sh$t!" He reminded me that I needed a round with at least 1,200fps velocity for the rounds to eject properly. I haven't tried it since I equipped with Remington 2.75 game load with 1,200 velocity. Indoor ranges don't like loads lighter than #4, so I couldn't test at last outing. I will test the Fetters in my Remington 870 and let you know how they work.
Pros:
  • Cheap
Cons:
  • not 2.75" as advertised
  • less than 1200fps
  • won't eject properly from some semi-autos
Best Used for:
  • adequate for pump guns, maybe
Would Recommend: No
