KEV's Review of Firefield Impulse 1x22mm Dot Sight

This is my first product from this co. I never paid much attention to them because I figured why pay for Firefield on the side when I can get the no name Chinese version for 1/2 price! And yes this is made in China. I do not like plain dots and this was the cheapest thing that had something else. So I ignored my misgivings and took a chance because I really like the EoTech style reticle, just not the price it comes with! I get the sight and it looks good, it feels well made and durable. Everything is tight and right! Even to my 45yr old diabetic eyes the reticle is clear and crisp with both colors on the lowest setting. As you go up in intensity they start to blume, but even on the highest setting they are not too bad. Of course the green does it a little more than the red. Remember my eyes are out of whack! Now things to note I experienced on my sample: It is lower 1/3 co-witness mounted on my AR upper, it was a little janky to get zeroed, but it will, and the intensity dial is reversed so 5 is low-1 is high. OK the reticle, which is the very reason I bought this, is not quite as advertised! They show an exact copy of an EoTech reticle where the cardinal direction hash marks are extensions of the outer circle and yes this poor has had the privalege of looking through an actual EoTech and even an ACOG for that matter! What I got instead was a segmented circle dot similar to the one in the Mepro sight. I also have one in a Lucid optic. This reticle still has the cardinal directions, but they are in between the the circle segments. Also, to my eyes anyway, they are not hashes as much as they are smaller dots. I was pleasantly surprised because I like that much better and already familiar with it! So to sum up I am very satisfied with this sight. Great first impression with the optic and of the co. The only reason it did not receive 5 stars is because is has not been put under recoil.
