none's Review of FLIR Systems Scout TK Mini Thermal Monocular

I did extensive research for this and wanted one since 1999.They were going for 13k back then. The NRA magazine had an ad from FLIR and price them at 1k. Still too much for me to spend. FINALLY I went looking again for it this Nov.2016 and found it at $600,I was elated. Now, the battery replacement is a sticking point. You have to send it back to get a battery installed and no one can give you a price because FLIR has not had to deal with that because the SCOUT TK is too new. After calling several people at FLIR who didn't know what they were talking about, I FINALLY found product manager Gio Lepore at 978 901 8000 x 8228. He gave me this answer. I also could not find an answer to my question whether I can spot a rabbit at 100 yards IN THE DAY IN THE WINTER. No video showed this or any of FLIR ads answered this question. He said yes so I bought on Amazon and paid $35 tax. I am very happy with it. It does work in the day but you will see heated objects from the sun. I love black hot. Other than white hot, I cannot figure out what all the other palettes are for. They don't seem to show me a clear heat signature. Something else pisses me off about FLIR, you don't get a user manuel, carrying case or lense cleaning rag. and the online info is incomplete. They don't even tell you how long to charge it and how often. Gio said to charge it initially for 4 hours and after that only when the light comes on and the battery shows red bars. He said to charge it with my cell phone charger. I asked other questions not in the online manuel. He was great. I don't know how long the full charge lasts but it uses power. I have it set to auto shut off in 20 minutes, another thing I had to figure out by pushing buttons. If in the field for days, you better take along a cell phone charger. You can take pixs with a quick click and movies by holding the button down. This is a good buy
