Bill's Review of FM Products MIKE-45 .45 ACP Build Kit

First, I love my 4 Foxtrot Mike FM 9s. As well as 4 others I convinced my fellow shooters to get. Myself and a buddy decided to build a couple FM 45s. Unfortunately Every piece of brass from 4 MFG of 230gr ammo (Win,Fed,Blaz,Fio) and hand loads with 3 diff burn rate powders (middle weight charges) with 200gr rn. All cycle perfect but bulge the cases 360’ It is because the chamber has a very deep “feed cone” that leaves the bottom .375” of the cartridge unsupported. The case is .890 total length. The bulged cases will rechamber so it’s not an out of battery issue. I also increased the buffer weight in increments, from the supplied 11.5 oz, up to 16.2 oz and still functions great except absolutely no change in the bulged brass. Both uppers I purchased are the same. I would not use these. The cases are dangerously close to failure from once firing. You will not be safe , In my opinion, if you try to resize and reload the brass after firing from this chamber. I have an email thread with Foxtrot Mike ( quick responses ) but no remedy other than “maybe it’s soft brass and I should try other ammo.” Well I did, and if you have to figure out what brand of plinking ammo is safe to fire your gun, I wouldn’t use that gun. PS I don’t see a place in this review to add Pics or Video but it’s very easy to see when you look into the chamber. I have ordered another barrel from a different MFG to compare chambers.
Pros:
  • I love FM Front Charge
Cons:
  • Unsafe in my opinion
