There is a "bump" that "pushes" against the trigger guard to retain the gun. Works too well. Takes two hands to upholster gun. But at least I don't have to worry about the small frame gun is going to fall out.
Pros: No worry about gun falling out
Cons: Takes 2 hand to unholster
