In the old days, drop holsters such as Safariland were the standard in Army Special Operations. With the advent of the desert wars, this holster choice has changed. With so much time spent riding in armored HMMWV's, leg holsters get uncomfortable and drawing the pistol from a sitting position is almost impossible. The latest trend is to mount the pistol on your body armor above the your M4 pouches. The best type of holsters for this are ones made of Kydex such as the Fobus. Kydex won't wear out like nylon and it protects your pistol better. Also, when lounging around the firebase or working in civilian clothes, a paddle holster that can be attached to the pants without having to run a belt though it is a great convenience. I was issued a Fobus to use with my M9 and I have since bought three to use with my personnal pistols.
Pros: Great quality for a great price
