Solid pack - Fox Outdoor Advanced Mountaineering Pack

This is a top-loading ruck with an internal frame and it holds at least 60 liters. It's very comfortable to wear, holds a lot of gear, and has some nice features. It has two large external side pockets that each can carry a 3 liter water bladder. The front of the pack opens widely with double zippers giving alternate access to the contents. The top lid has two sets of straps with buckles; presumably the extra set is for attaching bulky gear if needed. There are also side grab handles, an adjustable shoulder harness for short vs. tall folks, plenty of PALS webbing on the exterior, a hook&loop patch, and an external ID badge holder. There is no zipper pocket in the top lid as commonly found on other packs, but its absence is not a big deal - I can easily attach an accessory pocket to the webbing to carry small things.

The general materials and construction seem good and I expect the pack will be fine for hikers, hunters, etc. This is not of the same quality as a Kifaru or Mystery Ranch pack so I can't say if it's adequate for serious military use - maybe. On the other hand, the price is very reasonable and this will be a great choice for most people who need a large day pack or medium size pack for extended hiking. This size and style of ruck is unusual. Others I have are either much smaller or much larger so this one fills a gap of sorts. I rate this one at 5 stars because it's been reliable for me and I can find no serious problems. Get one!
