I bought this bag because I increased the length of my barrel and few bags would hold it. I added a 30" Shilen barrel but it still exceeds the bag length by 2" but there is a well fastened boot that covers it on the outside of the bag. The straps include shoulder, backpack style, and baggage hand hold they are strong and well build and work as indented not as a mere afterthought.
