Mike's Review of Frankford Arsenal Bullet Puller

I got this after reading a few reviews, and figured I'd take a chance as I've got two boxes of 6.5 to unload. It is loud, not going to put that mildly. So I mounted it in the basement on a shelving 2x4. Make sure to use as many screws as possible. So once I got the hang of it, things went smoothly. Most rounds require two to four operations of the handle, which isnt a big deal. It just means I seated my bullets well. At about round eight, the thing sounded like it flew apart. Pieces went bouncing all over. Actually, there is a small machine screw in the carrier that holds the locking device together. Without it you can't lock the carrier (round holder), into the mechanism. The nut had come off and went flying along with the carrier. Now I keep a clean basement, but spent an hour looking for this nut that is the size of a deer tick. I never found it, although it's there somewhere. I got frustrated enough and finally stopped looking. Went to HD and another store to find a replacement nut, but the smallest anyone had was a size 6 and course threaded, which was too big and not fine threaded. I wrote to Frankfords customer service twice, with no reply. I even went on their FB page and gave them the honest feelings I had at the time. Still nothing from them. I was more than ticked off and was ready to send the whole unit back due to one five cent nut. But one day I'm in the big blue box store, and I looked in their fastener aisle just for kicks....they had it. It's a 3mm fine threaded nut. I got the locking version. It now works great. Optics Planet has been good to me and I'll continue to buy from them, but I've earned the right, after spending about a grand on FA reloading gear, to say...their customer service needs serious retraining. When you write directly to them on their own page twice, then on FB and they still don't respond, someone needs to be looking for a new job, There is no excuse in the books for this. None.
Pros:
  • Works well over other methods.
Cons:
  • Loud. And FA customer service must have moved with no forwarding email.
