JStarX7's Review of OpticsPlanet Exclusive Franklin Armory BFSIII AR-C1 Trigger - Binary Firing System for AR Platforms
Ordered this trigger based on the fact that the Echo trigger has a shorter trigger and can pinch my finger when firing. Unlike the many YouTube videos of this product showing mag dumps, I just want quick, accurate double taps. Which is what I wound up with. Eventually.
I forget how many ARs I have built. Enough so that I just pop parts in by memory and don't have to follow directions. When I installed this trigger, I was very careful to install it as the directions specified. It installed with no issues, but failed the function tests in binary mode. I checked everything, uninstalled, reinstalled, still failed the first set of checks. I contacted Franklin Armory. They suggested a different mil-spec hammer. No problem, I have a few hanging around. Every other hammer, and I mean EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. that I tried failed the safety test. Oh, they worked in binary, but they also would drop when the rifle safety was engaged. That is no bueno. Contact Franklin Armory again. Oh, it must be your lower is out of spec. My Spike's lower is out of spec? Mmmm, doubt it, but whatever. Nope, still doesn't work in a Black Rain lower. Speak to a local range/gun store gunsmith who has installed hundreds of these. He checks it out for $20 and tells me it is out of spec. He said that he sees that a lot and to ask for an RMA as it will never work as is. I RMA'd it, which thankfully they did without hassle. The replacement parts came in and now it works fine. HOWEVER, the notes say the hammer was out of spec. That is a load. I have tried the part that was returned to me and it now works correctly with any other mil-spec hammer, whereas before it worked with none.
Honestly, I like the Fostech technology better, but their trigger is just too short for my liking. THis is a good product, but it seems like it has a high rate of defects.
