Shawn Webster's Review of Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronographs
Title says it all. I used this Chronograph about six months ago at a precision riffle course and knew I had to add it to my kit. Bought this as a part of a reloading package I put together a few weeks ago. Starting to shoot longer distances and velocity, extreme spread, and SD information is a big part of that equation.
The Xero came packaged simply and ready to go. When I powered it up for the first time I noticed it shipped with almost a full charged battery. No need to charge it before my first range trip. The controls are dead simple and the menu functionality is intuitive if you have ever used any other chronographs on the marker.
Pairing the Xero to my iPhone was also dead simple. The app is a great go-between to the Xero. Although not needed to get all of the useful data you want, I like that all of the shot strings are sent instantly to the App for review and saving as part of my data collection for my different load combinations. All data can be exported as well. The ability to remove cold bore velocities from shot strings is a great feature.
Setting up the Xero on the range is incredibly simple. Power on the unit, chose the appropriate setting for the intended outcome, (the Xero will also chrono other things like vehicles) Open up the provided tripod, place it near the muzzle of your firearm, and shoot. Dead simple and accurate.
Only drawback...... I didn't buy this sooner. No more lengthy set up of my Caldwell, hoping the light is good, hoping the values are accurate, and lugging another case of stuff around. The Xero fits easily in my range bag.
