507 comp killer - Gideon Optics Granite MOS Competition 1x 28.33x22.5mm Reflex Red Dot Sight

New to USPSA, I started with an 1MOA SRO on my tactical Glock 17 and was quickly looking for a bigger reticle. I hated the Holosun 507 Comp due to the thick square bezel and tiny dot or circle dot combos. For someone with astigmatism, circle dots are a mess. This had me looking for a big dot. There aren’t that many options at 8MOA, thus went ahead and tried the Gideon Granite MOS, despite being worried that it would be worse than the Holosun’s thick bezel due to the side battery. It turns out the optic is not a square, it’s such a clever trapezoid shape that gets larger as it goes up with an arc at the top, it naturally draws the eyes down to the dot and I do not notice the bezel or side battery at all! The dot is almost perfect for an astigmatism, the only issue is it doesn’t get bright enough for shooting in the morning sun head on. Matches do start early… Deck height isn’t quite low enough to use stock Glock irons. I had to go up to an Ameriglo L to get a low co-witness (for those panic weak hand moments where you’ve lost the dot).
