Al's Review of Guide USA TE 211M Thermal Monocular

I bought this for coonhunting to search trees after dog puts them up. It’s my first thermal so nothing to really compare to but it came recommended by some other trustworthy hunters. So far it has found 3 coon I probably wouldn’t have without it. It’s very portable and easy to use. I prefer the white hot option for my use. I feel the battery time may be overstated in the product description but I’m trying to improve it by keeping unnecessary options off. There is a bit of image lag at times but nothing intolerable. I’m curious to see how durable it is going forward but the warranty seems decent. I feel the price provides great value for an entry level thermal so far. Optics planet had it on sale and I was able to use a code for an additional 13 percent off making it the cheapest price I could find by $85. Received it in 6 days with the free shipping and it arrived in good condition with great packaging. Another thing I like for my purposes is that at 1x magnification I can search an entire tree quickly and not worry about missing an area due to a smaller field of view. This is definitely a consideration versus thermals that detect at farther distances and wouldn’t be as accommodating for searching a tree from 20 or so yards away. I haven’t used in humid or hot conditions like summer yet so that is still tbd.
