I gave myself a summer project of doing an AR-15 pistol build. I had been advised that the pistol platform was very loud, so I looked all over for different muzzle devices that may help out. Several suggested the GUNTEC flash can. Going on their website, it says that this was designed specifically for AR pistols. The pistol build I did used FDE furniture, so I was glad that the flash can was also offered in FDE. I also went with the slim version to keep the look streamlined. The reason for only four stars is that I replaced the A2 flash hider without ever firing the pistol using it. So, I didn't have a comparison to make. However, using the flash can, from my perspective, the report on the pistol was no louder than my AR rifle. I'd have to say that it performs as advertised by focusing flash and report forward. It's not supposed to work as a muzzle brake, but I did not feel any increase in recoil, again compared to the full size rifle. I would recommend this device for anyone who used the AR pistol platform.
