theseakayaker's Review of Gunwerks G7 BR2500 Ballistic Rangefinder

The G7 BR2500 came in a few weeks ago so I really haven't had time to play with it and work out any possible kinks. Went out last week to re-zero my 30-06 & 6.5 Creedmore, get accurate chronograph readings on MV's for both riffles and loads and enter that data into the G7. So far so good!

Zeroing both riffles at 330 yds and testing those zeros at 450 yds has given accurate bullet drops with the G7. Just wish it would read humidity to give a better picture of air density. Used my Weather Flow for wind and humidity. To give a full ballistic calculation it would also be nice to be able to add ammo temps as well. Some phone apps have this feature and have been very accurate on bullet drop and windage.

The point, for me, in purchasing this range finder was to eliminate the need for multiple devices to range and calculate drop and windage as well as a back up to my D.O.P.E cards. Just range, get hold overs, add in wind then shoot. K.I.S.S.

Now that I have the data entered into the G7 I will get a better feel for what it can do when I get some longer range shooting it. Curious to see how well it does at 800 - 1200yrds. Looking forward to it!
Pros:
  • good optics
  • Great feel and control
  • Better ballistic calculations than other range finders
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Does not read humidity
  • For windage, outside culculations still need to be done for directional wind speeds based on the set speeds given in the G7
