Legacy Reviewer's Review of Hatch ExoTech Thigh Groin ETP200

The main issue that I had with this item was the somewhat poor design of the groin protector unit. Mainly, the elastic straps and buckle system that is used for this piece is always loose, even when the straps are fastened all the way. I'm a slender/athletic build 6'2" 200lb. guy, and I find it disappointing how the groin protector piece remains so loose, resulting in the groin piece being likely to jostle around and be easily pushed or pulled away from the central groin area. Compare this to a football player's cup system, where the cup is securely held dead-center over the central groin region and is not supposed to allow jostling. In the same way, this groin protector piece should, ideally, be able to fasten snug over the central groin. Mind you, this is not an issue that defeats the basic usefulness of the groin piece. The piece itself is sturdy and comfortable, but as I mentioned, it simply doesn't strap very snug. The only other main issue is that I think that Hatch should have added a polyehtelene plate on top of the tailbone protector unit as well. Other than that, the sizing works perfectly for me, and I'm a 6'2" 200lb athletic build guy. If you're at all considering buying the XL-XXL sized unit DON'T BOTHER unless you are taller than 6'2" and quite hefty! I actually bought both the M/L unit and the XL/XXL unit in the same order so that I could try them both, and the XL/XXL unit completely dwarfed my thighs! You would not only have to be very heavy-set to need the XL-XXL, but you'd also have to be taller than 6'2", or else your thighs will be too short. Hatch did an excellent job encompassing a wide range of sizing in the M/L unit. I'm guessing most adult men who are at least 5'9" would be well-fitted in the M/L unit. Everything else about the product is beautifully constructed and very sturdy.
Pros: Plating is stable and secure, comfortable, allows for great mobility without interfering with pant belt
Cons: Disappointing design for the groin protector unit, cheap/thin buckles used on certain points, no polyethelene plate on tailbone protector
