TechNeck's Review of Hawke Sport Optics 1x Reflex 5 MOA Weaver Rail Red Dot Sight
I'm going to be honest, I originally bought this because my local gun store realy didn't have anything else that fit the bill for what I wanted on top of my M1 carbine. I was leary of the big "made in China" on the bottom, but I pulled the trigger and bought it.
I was pleasantly surprised.
It hold zero like a champ (i put about 200 rounds down range first day out) something most chinese red dots have issues with.
The site adjustment screws have a nice positive resistance to them with good clicks. When adjusting the elevation the lateral adjustment stayed true and vises versa.... I had to move over 5 full rotations to bring the vertical into zero, so that's pretty impressive on a cheaper optic.
I tested parallax distortion at the edge of the sites... I had a 9X6 hanging gong at 100m. near the edges I encounters a bit of distortion but not enough that it didn't still hit the gong; albeit very close to the edges.
THe only issue I had was that it kept turning off after every round. It was a battery connection issue. Quickly remedied by simply inserting a bit of paper to wedge the battery in the compartment.
If your after a more affordable red dot reflex site, this is a very good choice
As a note I personally would avoid putting it on a larger caliper gun like .308 because of the battery issue, but for medium calibers its perfect (.30 carbine, .223, 7.62 X 39)
