Louis Lomartra's Review of Hawke Sport Optics Frontier 30 Side Focus 2.5-15x50 Rifle Scope 30mm Tube Second Focal Plane
Hi I bought this scope 1 month ago , I love Hawke scopes for PCP Air Rifles .
This was my first Frontier scope , I have bought 2 other Hawke sidewinders and I love them so here goes
I received scope as usual came quickly packaged very well , I looked threw Reticle and I have to say , to me It seemed just a bit better glass then the sidewinder models which I love . I mounted it on a Air -Arms S-510 PCP gun zeroed scope @ 50 yards shot great , I held records years ago @1000 yards in the 1980s so when I buy A quality scope . I just do not zero it and call it a day , I am very more techanil on my testing , so I then I box tested turrets , meaning I moved 4 MOA to R and 4 MOA up and ,8 MOA left then 8 MOA down and left and right again so I make a square I do this with 5 shots in each setting and when I go back to 0 , If the holes are not exact as I shot when I had zeroed it fails my turret tests .
Well this scope was spot on it made a perfect square and when re-zero turrets , same hole , I was very impressed ,
Ok lets move on this scope has lighted reticles I have noticed many different brands are brighter and duller this scope the lighting was perfect and threw out magnification it was clear ,
I bought this model as the parallax went down to 10 yards they also make a 5x30 I am in process of getting for a different gun to see how it preforms .
Ok so I would highly recommenced this scope for anyone looking for a Hi end PCP gun I found it also to be spot on in Hawke chair-gun app on mill-dot and hold over so Hawke did their homework .
CONS
I do have only 1 con on this as If I give a review I must be 100% honest .
I wish Hawke left the flip scope end caps for 2 reasons
1 serious PCP shooters like me used caps for shooting holdover cards and 2 I loved there aluminum caps on all sidewinder models . and also the threaded parts of scope body do hold Eagle vision camera mounts , which you can still use with different adapter for the frontier by clamping on body of scope instead of threads
However Hawke does give a scope cover for this which is very hi quality with rubber straps , I just liked the flip ups better but all in all it is a better build quality and well worth buying .I give this scope a 10 out of 10
