Airgun fun's Review of Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 2-7x32mm Rifle Scope 1in Tube Second Focal Plane

I bought this scope for a powerful gas piston air rifle that is very hard on scopes. I have another scope just like it on another similar air rifle. I have had these scopes mounted on these air rifles for a while now, with several thousand shots to their credit. These scopes have done a good job of withstanding the harsh double recoil such air rifles produce, which can really destroy low quality scopes. While not the very best optical quality, they are above average and quite clear, especially compared to some scopes that are much more expensive that I have owned over the years. I consider this scope a good value for the all-around quality you get at this price level. The adjustments seem to work well and seem fairly accurate. They do tend to settle after the first adjustments are made and after a few shooting sessions, but after a few additional minor adjustments they seem very stable. Note that for spring piston and gas piston air rifles, you definitely need good solid mounts for any scope. I can't emphasize that last point enough. No scope will stay stable on such air rifles without good mounts, mounted tightly and correctly.
Pros:
  • Value, clarity, quality, tough, stable after final adjustments
Cons:
  • Adjustments may settle after the first use requiring some minor tweaking for a final stabel zero
Best Used for:
  • hunting and/or shorter-range target shooting
