Hawkins Precision makes a extraordinary M5 bottom metal for the Remington Model 700. I purchased this after a little research and the top "expert answer- The Hawkins Precision Remington 700 M5 Detachable Box Magazine will work with a Remington 700 BDL and not require a gunsmith."

This is not so for a 700 SPS with the Hogue Overlay, a BDL also. Just not wide enough to accommodate the Hawkins M5 without destroying the aluminum bedding. Advice is, if you want M5 capability, make sure your rifle has a M5 inlet or buy a stock that does and slip it in there. Magazines Rule. TJ
