Kinetic-Kid's Review of Hogue AR-15/M-16 Collapsible Buttstock- Beavertail Grip Kit, Fits Comm. Buffer Tube

Yes, I'm female. Get that out of the way first.

I (we) bought an AR-15 for myself, since my husband wouldn't let me put purple furniture on the other one, so I (we) bought an inexpensive DPMS Panther Oracle .223/5.56 so that I could accessorize it and change it to the way I wanted (after I started pricing out what I wanted for a lower, upper, barrel, trigger, free float, etc... etc... if I built my own with everything I wanted to put on it I'd probably spend close to $2,000 - this way certain items will stay that I won't change until further down the road if ever and I can make some changes now.)

If you buy the Hogue kit with the buttstock and grip - PLEASE be sure to read ALLLL the fine print in the description way down to the bottom - because the mil-spec one states it's the mil-spec one at almost the end of the description and I never did find the commercial mentioned on this one unless they've changed it since I mentioned this to them. I think it would be SO much better if they put Mil or Comm in the title!

I changed out the grip quickly and easily - if you haven't ever swapped the grip out in your AR be careful - there's a spring in there for the safety switch selector that goes into the grip - if you pull the old grip out and aren't careful it may drop and if you don't see it or know about it - your selector/safety probably won't work. I don't know, I didn't try it without it but I would assume it wouldn't. Also be sure to be careful not to kink the spring putting it back in as you replace the grip. My grip was really tight and I spread it and got it started before I slid in the spring and made sure it was setting properly as I seated the grip to screw it down.

The butt stock was an easy replace. I am extremely happy with these additions to my gun along with the Carbine length quad rail I purchased from here that I added to my AR. Now I need Opticsplanet to ship me my back ordered gun bag so I can take it to the range and throw a few hundred rounds down it so I can see how it shoots, get the sights zeroed in, and see if I want to throw another $70-$100 for an ambidextrous charging handle. I've really been eyeing that Raptor. : )

If you have a wife and/or girlfriend (LOL) and are trying to get her interested in shooting and she likes more girly colors - think about buying a furniture set that would get her attention - then get her hooked and get her her own gun (OR you can use this as an excuse to let her have the gun you have and buy yourself that new one you're probably eyeing every time you go into the gun shop) and swap the furniture back out. Win/Win. More guns, more fun. Plus maybe she won't gripe so much at you about spending money on ammo, or at the range, or at the buddies house shooting in his back yard... ;-)
