Installation issues - Hogue AR15/M16 Free Float Forends

First, once installed this is solid, sturdy, secure, and looks and feels Great!

Now, the bad news. I and several other purchasers found the included installation tool to be worthless, its is weak and does not fit well at all. Period. Get a strap wrench, AND how you make IT work without damaging the product is the old trick of WRAPPING A STRIP OF CLOTH AROUND THE PARTS FIRST, ABOUT 2 TIMES. The strap will fit and secure the strap wrench and not damage the parts. You can tighten and loosen at will and the gas tube hole will line up as it should.
HOWEVER, THE GAS TUBE STILL DOESNT CLEAR THE INSIDE OF THE FOREARM! I used a low profile SLR adjustable gas block, front clearance is ample, clearance at the barrel is hit and miss. If you bend the gas tube incorrectly, the gas key will drag on the gas tube. Also, a gas tube is one stiff li' you know what. I bent the tube and hogged out the inside portion of the hand guard where it interfered with gas tube, AFTER ALL THIS EVERYTHING IS GREAT!
A note, the mid length guard doesn't extend over a mid length gas block and there is no attachment point for any accessories, like a sling mount.

I am keeping this HG 'cause it does fit my needs, I can fix the sling attachment point issue, sigh, too.
