Jamie's Review of Hogue Handall Beavertail Grip Sleeve

The grips work well while shooting. Less movement in the hand between shots. The problem was with the draw. The rubber grips really slowed down my draw considerably from two separate points. First, my concealment clothing, whatever it may be, kept getting caught on the rubber of the grip, so I couldn’t clear the gun quickly. Second, my thumb kept getting stuck between the grip and a shirt. I had to move my hand around a few times slowly to get a proper grip before drawing from the holster. I tried it with both an outside and inside waistband holsters, from 3:00 position. In fairness, not sure if the same issues would exist with appendix, but I’d assume so. Finally, the grip does work well for range shooting, but I cannot use it for concealed carry. I’ve found this to be true for other rubber grips as well, not just this product. If a quick efficient draw is what you’re looking for and in most concealed carry cases, it is, then you have to be able to clear you concealment clothes and get your hands on the grip of the gun as easily and efficiently as possible. Rubber grips slow this down a lot.
Pros:
  • Less movement between shots
Cons:
  • Difficult for concealed carry.
Best Used for:
  • Range shooting
