John's Review of Hogue Mossberg 500 OverMolded Shotgun Stock - 12" L.O.P. 05030
I've installed this stock on 2 guns: A Maverick 88 and a Mossberg 590.
It looks and feels like it belongs on both guns. This stock is incredibly ergonomic.
It makes your shotgun lighter and more nimble. Target acquisition is faster.
So why only 4 stars? Design and quality control.
The installation is a royal pain. Having hidden screws does nothing to improve cosmetics, but does serve to aid in stripping the screw heads and holes. It takes a good deal of spinning your screwdriver to seat properly. Even more annoying is when you finally do, your recoil pad may be offset because the screws are super thin.
My sling stud was installed crooked, and a chunk of plastic has been sheered from the inside the stock. Not happy.
Time will tell if there are any structural compromises.
