Great idea, poor execution. - Hogue Savage 10, 12 & 16 Detachable Box Mag / Hinged Floor Plate Short Action Heavy Barrel Full Bed Block Stock OD Green 11212

After looking everywhere for an affordable replacement stock for my Savage Hog Hunter, I decided on this because it was lightweight, tough and the forend shape and configuration was exactly was what I was after for a tactical rifle. This stock has the aluminum bedding block, so it's way stiffer than the pillar-bedded models that come on the Remington 700 Tactical. The problem was that their quality control is terrible. I had to wait 3 weeks for the stock I ordered to actually ship and when I got it, I could see a problem with the rear part of the bedding area. There was mold flash (black plastic) completely covering one side of the aluminum bedding area which would have caused the rear of the stock to sit to one side when mounted. Since plastic will cold flow when compressed by the action screw, this thing would have been constantly moving around over time. Exactly what you DON'T WANT with a precision stock. This is a complaint I saw in other reviews but thought the issue would have been addressed by Hogue's QC people by now. Apparently, I was wrong. I called Hogue, sent them a picture and the rep told me that she pulled one from stock and it looked the same way, so therefore it must be OK. I told her I would be returning it and she didn't seem to care at all. I guess that it's true once again that you get what you pay for.
