FAi's Review of Hogue Winchester 1300 Less Lethal Orange OverMolded forend 03041

I ordered this from Optics Planet along with a Hogue OD Green stock. This is not a standard color combination, so it was treated as a custom order. It took awhile to get it, but I knew that going in. The secret for replacing any parts on a firearm is having the right tools. If you are going to use one of these forends from Hogue on your shotgun, you must make sure you have everything you need. The forend fit varies by the length of the shuttle on your particular Winchester 1300. You may need an additional spacer for your shotgun, which is available from Hogue. They explain that quite clearly on their website. However, the pricing from Optics Planet is hard to beat. Make sure you have a proper forend tool to remove the tube nut that secures the factory forend. The proper forend tool, even if used only once, makes life much easier. Avoid the frustration of improvising a questionable tool that may mar your valuable shotgun. I did my homework and the installation was a breeze. I must say that the Hogue forend fits tighter and just feesl more solid than the factory wooden forend. I really like this modification.
Pros:
  • Solid fit.
  • Great Orange color
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Refurbishing a Winchester 1300
