RickyRecoil's Review of Holosun Dual Laser Sight with IR Illuminator

Holosun has done a great job with this unit. The pictures shown here on the site make it look cheap and the title and the description are a little vague with respect to another. This model has co-aligned Green visible and IR lasers as well as an IR illuminator. Zeroing the green laser during the day will also zero the IR laser and IR Illuminator (easiest way to zero IMO). It comes in a black case (similar to a pelican... but it is definitely not a pelican), of which I have no use for since the device will be left on my weapon. It comes with 1 CR123 battery, a pressure switch (more on that) a torx wrench (same thing and same size BCM uses for installing their KMR/MCMR/QRF rails as well as their brand accessories), a static free wipe, and the owners manual. The unit itself is built tough and and the mounting system is rock solid (surprisingly as I’ve seen other reviews have this as a point of contention...Holosun must’ve stepped up QA). It actually has a slim profile compared to other competitors with the same functionality. The controls are easy to use. The adjustment on the IR illuminate, controlled by a knurled knob on the back, is what sold me on this unit. There is also two small LED lights on the back of the unit to indicate whether the IR laser or the IR illuminate is activated (both will light up when both are in use). These will also blink when the battery gets low, serving a low battery indicator. The tape switch works with this unit. It is formed to fit a picatinney rail, though the soft side Velcro attached underneath sacrifices it’s ability to stay in its place. I thought about cutting out, but I do not intend to use a tape switch with the device, the controls are simple enough and where I have it placed, a tape switch isn’t needed. The only con I can see is the tape switch port (if you would even consider this a con). I tried an actual L3 AN/PEQ 15 tape switch with the device and though they look the same, they are not compatible. YouTuber Mrgunsngear did a review and he had mentioned that his Surefire variant tape switches were also incompatible. Overall I absolutely love this device. It’s ease of use, it’s multiple functions and it’s small profile, quality build make it an excellent choice. I definitely feel like a got a lot of bang for my buck here.
